Home Sweet Home

I cannot tell you how shocked I was when they told me at the hospital that Wren's bilirubin levels were normal and that she and I were going home just 2 days after she was born.  With my last 3 babies this bilirubin thing has been a huge pain in the neck.  John and I apparently have incompatible blood types which means our babies are always off the charts with the stupid bilirubins and we either have to stay forever in the hospital, or I get discharged but the baby doesn't, or we have to rent one of those phototherapy tables and we don't ever get to hold our baby.  We do have to go back every morning this week and have her tested but so far her levels are within the normal range.  Yoohoo!

The kids thought our coming home was pretty exciting and they all wanted to kiss her, and jump on the bed with her, and run around the room screaming.  (all things I'm not ok with)  Lottie was seriously concerned and grossed out by her belly button and hasn't stopped talking about it since we got home.

For me coming home has been really nice.  Between John and my mom I've been able to spend lots of time cuddling in my bed with Wren and eating the delicious food they make and smelling these beautiful flowers on my dresser.

And occasionally entertaining visitors to my room:

I had a nurse tell me to wear my pajamas as long as I could because it reminds the family that I am still recovering and not back to normal. As soon as moms put on regular clothes, it sends a message that we're ready for "regular" life. There's some truth in that, but I can't stand pajamas for too long. Enjoy being pampered and take advantage of it while you can!
