Newest baby girl!

This was such an anxious delivery for me.  I could hardly sleep on Sunday night going through all the things that could go wrong.  What if there is no room at the hospital and I have to wait to have the baby, or what if there is room and I have to go in and actually have her and on and on.  Well, they called me at 5:14 am and told me to be there by 6 so I got up and took and shower.  John and were excited to start and get this moving.  It was about 7:30 by the time I was all hooked up and having contractions.  I got the epidural at about 8:30.  The nurse couldn't believe this was my 5th baby because I looked way too young.  That made me happy..
John and I watched about 4 episodes of American Pickers on the History channel when I started to feel like I should have the nurse come check me.  When she did I was at a 10 and ready to start pushing.  It was about noon.  She ran out to call my Dr. and I couldn't stop imagining all the things that could go wrong again.  I was seriously numb and I didn't think I would be able to push, I would probably push for a couple hours and then have to get a c-section.  By the time my Dr. arrived I was pretty convinced I wasn't going to be able to get through this.  I don't know where all the fear came from though because she told me to take a deep breath and push which I did and even before I could finish that push she told me to lay back and relax because the baby was out.
Craziest easy labor ever.  She started crying right away and is perfectly perfect and healthy.
Right away, I mean that very second, I knew she was mine.  That this little person wasn't just an irritating bump in my stomach that makes me mean to my family and doubt my ability to deal with life and that has made me 50 pounds heavier.  But that she was my beautiful little baby girl and that she is the exact right girl for this mom and that we are her family and that there is a place for her with us.
After the labor I felt like a new person.  All this anxiety and tension that I've been carrying around is gone.  I can breathe and move and laugh.  We had visitors all day which was so much fun.  I loved when my kids came the very most though.  Charlie walked in and saw me laying on the bed and said -"you got a headache mom?"  Lottie wanted to hold her right away.  She's been telling me for weeks that she's just going to love my baby.  I can tell she's going to be my biggest help out all of them.
Ivy didn't want anything to do with her and Charlie only seemed interested in poking her with crayons.  UGH!

I still can't believe we have 5 kids.
What a crazy life we've made.
For now though I'm just loving every minute of my time in the hospital.  Food, rest, and cable tv.  Heaven...

She's beautiful! I'm so happy you're feeling good and that everything went so well. Congrats again!

P.S. Did you know Rozannah's little girl is Eliza Wren? I think they call her Wren. Great minds...

In my baby-bearing years I referred to the hospital as the "hotel". I know there are some moms who are anxious to get home, but I always enjoyed my time there. It sounds like you did, too. There will be time enough to be home and all that it brings with it. Congrats on a healthy baby!
