Going on vacations with teeny tiny kids is just hard. It's exhausting for everyone involved. Lucky for us my brother and his family of 8 were also going to Moab which made things infinitely easier on us. K2 kids - this trip would have been a million times harder if it wasn't for you!
Also, for me, the accommodations are a BIG deal. It gives me serious anxiety trying to get a baby to sleep while having other kids bouncing off walls in a cramped hotel room. We used to travel a lot for John's work so I've learned for me two separate rooms is a must. We got the "executive" suite so while the kids were jumping on the couches and pulling all the food out of the cooler, Ivy was peacefully sleeping in her own space. That just makes me a lot more fun to deal with.
It was a rough start for my kids. All they really wanted to do was swim at the hotel but we made them hike all over the arches. What horrible parents we are! But once they got over the fact that we were there to hike they did remarkably well. Even enjoyed it I think.
We stopped and had a little car shade picnic and the kids recharged. Again soooooooo grateful for my awesome nieces and nephews. They make everything more fun.
Charlie was out within 90 seconds of getting in the car, so he missed the Delicate Arch. Actually a couple of kids waited in the car for that one. We just couldn't convince them to hike anymore.
We woke everyone up when we got to the Sand Dune Arch. They informed me later that this was their favorite part. It was nice and cool with tons of sand to roll down and get buried in.
The sand here is as soft and smooth as can be and since it's so shaded it's really cold to the touch. A perfect place for kids to play. John even found a high point to climb.
After we got good and sandy we went and cooled off at the pool.
We decided to stop at Pizza Hut on the way home then and made a pact to never ever eat Pizza Hut again. We were just so hungry and we didn't want to spend a fortune but seriously - it was gross. Sometimes though when our kids are really tired and hungry and it takes 25 minutes for a pizza to come out we put on Phineas and Ferb at the table. Instant peace and quiet. Thank you Phineas and Ferb.

What a fun looking trip. I've been wanting to go there forever and have been asking sam to make a trip and go camping with me, but he's too busy right now :( I really like that pic of John on that point with the bird in it....it's pretty cool. So do you recommend Moab for kids? The sand looked fun. By the way, Brylee has Ivy's same pj's.
I really believe that Moab is the happiest place on earth. And Devon believes that Pizza Hutt is the happiest place on earth.
