We started out September with Johns birthday. This was one of his more fun birthdays.
We decided to take the kid out of school and go see the airplanes at Hill Air Force Base. John loves airplanes and has been wanting to go see these ones for a while. It was pretty amazing to see these mammoth machines all together in the museum.
Of course it doesn't take long before the kids start getting tired and hungry and letting us know about it.
I like to make fun of them.
Anyway, so much to see. It was way fun.
Then we had my sister missionary reunion up in the Salt Lake area. I mentioned to my mission president earlier that it would be John's birthday that day so she got him a cake. So nice! They had a beautiful pool that we played in the rest of the night. It was a really good day.
The weather was amazing all month long and we spent lots of afternoons down in the hollow. I love it there. Also, I love that this is just down the street. My kids are so lucky.
In the middle of the month the kids brought a flier home from school about the BYU cross country invitational. It cost $4 and it was on the actual track at BYU. I signed these 3 up just for fun.
Lottie was the first to race and blew us away. I had no idea she had this running animal in her. She took off with that huge pack of 1st grade girls an one by one passed almost everyone of them. The race was a mile long and she kept her perfect pace and form the entire race. It was absolutely incredible to watch. I didn't even react when Ivy straight up peed her pants all over the bleacher we were sitting on at the most climactic moment. I was too excited to care. She came in 4th and even got a ribbon.
Jack was exactly the same. You could see the fire in his face as he rounded the track towards the finish line. Although his 2nd grade boy competitors were a little more fierce than Lottie's so he came in 13th.
He was not too happy about that. Although his time was technically faster than Lottie's he didn't get a ribbon like she did. That boy dies a little each time his sister gets something he doesn't. Ugh, siblings..
We were so proud of our racers. I didn't get a picture of Charlie since he wandered off the track about halfway through his race and ended up on Johns shoulders for the rest of it. Oh well. Such fun.
Then there was another Spanish Fork thing one Saturday in September. It was called Aeroplanes, trains, and automobiles. It was held at our little airport and they had all kinds of cars to look at and train rides and helicopters to climb through. It was so cool.
Seriously, I love Spanish Fork.
We had the kids' back to school carnival. We always eat early and go right at 5:00 and we have no crowds and we get to do everything.
When we leave about an hour and a half later this place is so packed you can hardly move. My kids' go to a great school.
John and I ended September with an Elton John concert. I got these as an early anniversary present for John since he's always been a huge fan. Our seats were in the very very very back but we had binoculars so we felt ok about it. It was a pretty great show.
And a good month.
