Saturdays

John works really hard all week and so do I as a matter of fact.  So on Saturdays we usually do whatever I feel like doing.  My husband is good like that.  He gets me.   2 Saturdays ago we took the kids bowling and then the to Creamery at BYU.

We've gone bowling a few times and usually there are moments of enjoyment but the rest of it is kinda a pain and the kids start to get bored and complain.  This time though, the kids got it.  They loved every minute.  They cheered for each other and hit tons of pins down.  It was way fun.  Our kids must be growing up!  Having a genuinely fun time out with them is new...

Jack was seriously good.  Like not kid-good, I mean good-good.  We had bumpers but he didn't use them.  He got 3 strikes and a couple spares. It was fun to watch.

We may just do that again sometime...

Then last Saturday I got it in my head to do some home stuff.  Sometimes when we haven't done a project in a while I just have to rope John into something.
Right now at Costco they have these awesome out door light fixtures.  These are $30 and they have an electric eye so you never have to worry about turning them on or off.  Brilliant!!

Done, love it.

Then at Restore the other day we found a nice kitchen sink for $25 so we decided to update our crappy old thing.
We were a little worried this was going to be like a Pandora's Box once we got going and we were going to find problems that had been been laying dormant for thirty years but excluding a couple trips to Home Depot for a few little things it was pretty easy.  This good old house.

Then we changed out the faucet too.
Ahhhhh, so much better.
Also, our kids are super hard to keep out of the way when we do this kind of stuff.  I wish I could strap them all down like Wren.
Next up we've got to learn how to install our back splash.

We used that adhesive paper stuff for our bathroom backsplash and it worked pretty well. There were a few things we'd do differently if we were to use the stuff again, but in all it was so much easier than spreading thinset across the back. Our main complaint was that the glue tabs were too far apart for our small mosaic tile - there were areas that wanted to sag because there wasn't adhesive behind it. Larger tiles would span the distance between glue tabs better. Does this make sense? Anyway - easy stuff to use, otherwise.

That kitchen sink looks great! I can't believe someone was using seperate hot and cold knobs, that would drive me CRAZY, especially on the kitchen sink!!!! Nice looking lights too.
