Here's Wren's room. It wasn't too bad. Just ugly carpet and a very out dated little window treatment there.
She took lots of naps in there while we were working. She's such a little angel.
Next door to Wren's room is the big girls room. (ha! our "big" girls are 5 and 2)
I wanted to do something kinda fun in here. Once I again I roped John into this faux board and batten thing.
He was a pro since he'd done the entry way bead board back here. He said this was way easier than that was. He pulled the baseboards off and replaced them with a chunky piece of mdf. Same with the trim at the top. Then we just spaced the boards out where we wanted them around the room
Making sure everything is level and square.
We did have to stop every once and a while to get some baby hugs. We are so crazy about this little thing.
Then John caulked all the little spaces. That is the big time commitment on this one. Up and down and under and over every board. Lots and lots of caulking.
Then the day before the new carpets to scheduled to arrive I pulled out all the carpets out the rooms. That was rough because usually when we are down to the wire John is my crunch guy. He just busts stuff like that out in no time but he was gone camping that week and my parents were super busy doing a million things in other parts of the house. The carpet isn't actually the worst part though I discovered. It's all those little staples!! Ugh, the staples. My mom did help me with those.
I bought all this wicker stuff off ksl for the girls' rooms and for some reason that I can't recall now we decided to paint everything in lottie's room the night before the carpet guys came. We stayed up until like 2 am painting all this stuff and repainting our old, chewed up, brown crib white.
At 7 am sharp the carpet guys showed up. That was a frantic rush moving all that white furniture out of the girls' room and into the living room. Those Mr. Carpet guys are crazy. They were in and out in under an hour. 3 upstairs bedrooms and 2 downstairs.
Ahhhhhh, that was a good day.
So here's Wreni's room before:
And a blurry after: (it's hard to get pictures of the baby's room since she's always asleep in there)
I've never had a changing table before. I'm loving having her diapers and everything right here all the time.
Of course, we can't forget my favorite chair in the house. We borrowed this chair from my brother 2 babies ago. It's the perfect nursing, rocking chair in the world. Someday I'll give it back..
Here's the big girls room:
I hate to post these pictures because I have a matching quilt coming for the bed on the right and I'm making some big European shams and throw pillows to match their beds but I'm just not finished yet. I'll post another picture when it's all done but here it is now.
These are the fabrics I'm thinking about...
Anyway, here's the other side of the room.
I love this picture my friend Haley took of my girls. They are so beautiful.
Here's the girls' bathroom before:
Just some paint on the walls, stain on the vanity and 2 part epoxy on the counter top. Voila..
Here's the master bedroom before:
My parents and I hurried and painted this room the night before John and the big kids got back from camping. It was a last minute decision and a mix of colors that we already had but I love how it turned out.

One last thing I just have to mention because I know someday I'll look back and laugh at this but through out this summer of work and sweat and kids and stress my hair started falling out.
This is no joke! Above here is what this side of my hair looked like on the 4th of July. It had started breaking off a little when I'd comb it right out of the shower but I didn't think much of it.
This picture below was taken at the end of August. I wish I could find better pictures of the damage (I took them because I was trying to explain the situation to my sister over the phone) but I must have deleted all the proof since I looked so frightening.
My hair just started breaking off about 2 inches past the root. It's happened all over but most especially on this right side. I've lost like 1/3 of the bulk of my hair. Which wasn't a lot to begin with!
I ended up getting it all cut to hide the worst parts of it but I'm still dealing with it. Has this ever happened to anybody? I drink tons of water and I eat pretty healthy. I've changed my hair care products to this super nourishing special stuff and I try not to use as much heat on it as I used to but I don't know what else I can do. It's the weirdest thing. (these are horrible cell phone pictures but you get the idea..)
Anyway, next up .... the basement!

I love how your bedrooms turned out. I am toying with the idea of board and batten in our kitchen. Your master bathroom looks just like ours used to look - 1970s were pretty uncreative, I guess.
As for the hair breaking/falling out - I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago. It was startling to see handfuls of hair and really thought it was falling out until I saw two-inch long sections across the back. I had patches of stubby hair for quite a while. I, too, reduced the heat setting on my dryer, changed hair products, and have noticed a difference. I think women's hair goes through phases and we have to adapt in order to make the best of it. I would literally lay awake at night worried about my hair and going bald. I feel like my hair has recovered, but it is definitely NOT the same as it was 5 years ago. I can see noticeable differences, but others really can't - maybe they're just being kind. Take care of your hair - you only get one set of it. :) Try not to stress about it, though - I'm sure that can't help, either.
Oh, and I also started taking a vitamin formulated for hair, skin, and nails in addition to my daily multi-vitamin. My hair has grown so much faster and my nails are no longer brittle. The one I take is a Nu Skin product, but I've seen them at stores.
Also, were your walls textured before you did the board and batten? I notice that you did not put up any kind of paneling in the bedroom - just moulding strips.
Awesome Brielle! I'm so impressed! What a transformation! Great work:)
Stephanie, it's so interesting that you've had the same experience with your hair. I should probably take some more vitamins, what with the nursing and all.. We didn't put up any board on our board and batten so it's not true board and batten. Our walls are textured and we toyed wIth the idea of sanding them all down to look more like board but we just plain ran out if stream.
Amy- thanks!
The house looks amazing and SO CUTE! Also, about 4 months after I had Lydia my hair started falling out in chunks! It coincided with our move so it is probably a combination of hormones and stress. I also just cut it really short to help hide the evidence and am taking biotin (just in a Vit. B complex vitamin) so hopefully it will grow again!
