Looooooong Winter Days

We are not big fans of winter around here.  AT ALL!  It's not even close to being over so we've been bringing out everything we can think of to keep us from tearing each other apart.  Here's a few of the things we've been up to on these long, cold afternoons
when I want them to be entertained but I don't want to heave my big old belly up off the couch.
I made this little felt pizza game last year sometime and my kids have just rediscovered it.  They have loved making up all kinds of pizza concoctions.  It makes me want to make another kit with felt ice cream and toppings, or maybe a sandwich one?  The options are endless.
Also, taping a piece of paper under a table makes coloring at least 10 times more fun!
My kids have loved turning q-tips into bullets.
We started off trying to get the Q-tips into the bowl and then it turned into a Q-tip war shooting them at each other and then a shooting them as far as you can across the room or up at the ceiling.  At least an hour of fun with these.

Another favorite is Moon Sand.  It's a little stressful for me to see them getting sand all over the table and stuff but I just have to let go and clean it up when they're done.
I have a love/hate relationship with it.
Or sometimes all you need is a box.  I gave them a box, some stickers, and some crayons.  They played with that box all afternoon.
It was a puppet theater and then a bat cave and then a train and then a bed.  They could go on and on.
I just loved that little face Lottie drew.  She said it was a picture of Jack.  So cute!
Puzzles, of course, are always a favorite.  We got this cute Melissa a Doug alphabet train puzzle at Savers for $1.00.  I get most of our puzzles and games there.  Sometimes they're missing pieces and sometimes they aren't but for a dollar who cares?

Or, if all else fails, why not try out potty training?  It's been going a million times better than last time we tried with zero success.  Maybe he's really going to do it this time?

Great ideas! We'll have to try some of those out.

My kids LOVE the pizza game too. I am going to have to try the q-tip one. I have to ask where you got your dining room table. We need benches like that!

Angela: Our table is from Cost Plus World Market (you can find them online) but then we REALLY got lucky and found the same one on KSL for like 1/4 of the price. We love the double benches too!
