Babymoon

I'm 36 weeks pregnant now.  I've had to stop volunteering every Monday at Jack's school and I taught my last lesson in Relief Society.  I feel like doing pretty much anything is just more than I want to do.  So John and I thought it would be cool to have one last get-a-way before I shut down for the next month.
We just got a hotel in Salt Lake for a night this weekend and on the way we thought we'd stop at Scheel's.  I've driven past this place a million times and wondered what it was all about so we stopped and checked it out.  Did you know they have a Ferris Wheel in there?  It only cost a dollar to ride so we did. I'll have to bring my kids back and let them ride.  The rest of the store is basically just clothes.  Bleh...
It was starting to snow pretty hard so we decided to stop at Trader Joe's and get some dinner so we wouldn't have to leave our room for the rest of the night.  I love Trader Joe's.  It was so fun to get a little bit of everything to try.
We got the "enchanted forest" room.  It was fun except that the bed was super duper high which was a little difficult for my pregnant body to maneuver.
The best part of staying in a hotel is no kids coming in to wake us up, but both John and I woke up at about 6:00.  We always do this when we get a rare night away.  Our kids have trained us so well.
But at least we didn't have to do anything.  We just hung out in bed looking out our window and watching tv.  Pretty heavenly.
We had an appointment for a couples massage later in the afternoon so I figured we should do something in the morning that is more John's speed.  We ended up at the Clark Planetarium just in time to see a IMAX 3D movie about the Hubble Telescope.  It was really cool.

After a stop for snacks at this incredible french bakery we got our massages.  This place is totally adorable and delicious.  We'll definitely come back again to try out the stuff we didn't have time for.
We finally made our way back to Utah County and stopped at the Dollar Theater to see Wreck it Ralph.  My kids have seen that one but John and I hadn't yet and I thought it was pretty cute.
After the movie we wanted to go somewhere fun to have dinner and I've heard great things about this super trendy place called the Tortilla Bar in Orem.  We went and were advised by the waiter to share something so we did and we almost burst out laughing when they brought us our tacos.  Yes, there were two of them but each was about the size of a DVD.  After we ate our two bites of food we went over to Cafe Rio and had a real meal.  I guess we're not hipsters after all.
We had such a quiet and relaxing day out.  It's so nice to get away sometimes.  But, I told John over dinner, that I was a little concerned that I hadn't felt much movement from the baby all day.  I even tried to push around on my stomach but it only resulted in little contractions.  When we came home and all the kids ran out of their rooms to greet us though I immediately started feeling all kinds of kicking and rolling around in there.  It's so interesting to me that this baby responds already to the chaos in my house.  At least it won't be a surprise.
As nice as it is to get away I'm so grateful to be able to come home to my funny little kids.  They drive me crazy but I love them so much and sometimes it takes a night away to remember that!

What a fun getaway! I agree it does take some time away to remember sometimes.

That first picture of you is so cute. I'm glad you had fun. That hotel room kind of freaks me out...

I've been thinking about going to Scheels for awhile now...do you think the ferris wheel is too scary for little ones? We should go together...
