Reluctant camping

It should be said that I am just such a good wife.  I really don't love camping and camping with little kids is like 1000 times worse.  But my husband loves this so I do it.  We decided the night before Pioneer Day would be a good time so we could pretend we were pioneers in the morning.  There were moments that were really fun like eating dinner as the sun set.

Playing with glowsticks while John set up the tent.

Playing with Ivy before we put her to sleep in the tent.
Playing with Sparklers and roasting marshmallows.
Watching the fireworks all up and down the bench in Spanish Fork.  So fun.

Also there we're plenty of really awful moments too.   Like trying to hold Ivy while she was squirming and flailing around trying to get herself into the campfire.  Constantly slapping mosquito's off myself and my children.  Changing Lottie's pants 9 times because she kept peeing on them as she squatted in the trees.  Trying to sleep next to Ivy who would get up on her knees and then body slam into me every 5 - 10 minutes all.night.long.  I didn't sleep at all.

I mean, I get that my kids love this, but I don't.  Not until John buys me a big fancy springbar tent and an air mattress or maybe a camper.  Or better yet a hotel room..

The next morning we went home and took showers and the babies and I took a nice looooooong nap.  After some laundry and cleaning up we took them back out to my in-laws farm to ride the mules.

Oh also, did I mention the mosquito's?  Jack, Lottie, Ivy and I slept in the tent and John and Charlie slept out under the stars.  This is what Charlie looked like when he woke up.  There are about 30 bites on his face and more down his neck and chest.  It makes me want to cry every time I look at him.  How could I let this happen?  Please forgive me Charlie.

After the mules we got Chinese take out and brought it up to John's parents house.  This used to be the place to be every 24th of July because you can see the fireworks all over the valley but now that they're on their mission it's deserted.  We had fun playing around until the show started.
By the time we got home it was past midnight.

The longest Pioneer Day ever.

Wow Brielle, so many cute pictures! You are quite the photographer. I love the one of Ivy swinging in the air.
