John and I try to go on a date every week. Sometimes we are too poor or tired or babysitter-less to get there but we try to because when we do, the rest of the week goes so much smoother. Something about connecting with him away from our kids and messy house makes life so much easier.
On Saturday we were able to convince my generous parents to hang out with the kids all afternoon so we could go float the Provo River.
It was a blazing hot day and floating down an ice cold river sounded soooo good. But as we were handing over the money for the tube and life jackets great big purple clouds started to roll in. Then it started to pour. Really really pour. We ran back to our truck to escape the rain and burst out laughing. What the what?
We thought about getting our money back and doing something else but it's not everyday that we have a free afternoon. So, We decided to do it anyway. The shuttle driver guy thought we were crazy. "You do know that the water is about 53 degrees, right?" Yes, we're doing it anyway. Plus John had this super warm little head piece to wear. (just kidding, he didn't really wear that)
Turns out it was super fun. I mean it was cold but we had so much fun trying to keep as much of our bodies out of the water as possible, occasionally pushing the other one into the rapids to get good and wet.
Afterwards we were in the mood for Japanese food and found this all you can eat Sushi place in Provo. It's called Wild Ginger. It was d.elicious. My new favorite place to eat. I wanted to order like half the menu and couldn't decide so this Bento Box for $10 was perfect. A little but of everything.
John of course ate his weight in Sushi. Yuck. But he said it was really good.
Man oh man I love dates with my John.

So fun! Wish we could do this too...but we always have a hard time finding baby-sitters....or maybe I'm just too picky. Probably that :)
For the 4th of July one year, we floated the river. It was so hot and sounded soooo nice. It poured on us and it was freezing cold. I didn't think Dallin would ever do Provo River again but he goes all the time ....with girls. Parents don't have the same pull. Loved the picture of John...classic John with hat on. I have been watching my kidos and I am tired. Kudos to you moms!
That is so admirable that you do date night. And you always do cool things too! Can I be you when I grow up?
