My husband is amazing and my baby is a 1 year old

John ran his first marathon today.  He finished in 3 hours and 52 minutes.  He was really really tired.  He told me later that he probably could have stopped at around mile 13 and it was a little hard to get himself going for another 13 more.

I absolutely love races though.  I've only actually participated in one but John's been in several.  It is such an inspiring atmosphere and every single time a runner would cross the finish line sweating and panting it would make me tear up.  The mind's control over the body - incredible.

Also, today my little Ivy June turned 1.
Somehow I think she knew it too.  She was acting kind of funny and older all day.  It's been a long year with this strong willed and intense little thing, but at the same time I can't believe that I'm done with all the nursing and the binky's and the baby car seat and everything that goes with babies.
After John's race we came home and put her to bed so we could decorate our living room and wrap her presents.  What really happened though is John and I laid on the couch and made the kids wrap the presents in streamers and hang up colored pieces of paper all over the walls.  (we're a long way from the 1st birthday celebration of my first baby.)

It worked out just fine.  We got Ivy some Littlest Pet Shop toys but what she was really impressed with were these little squishy animals from the dollar part of Target.  I knew that would happen though.

We took the kids to Cafe Rio for dinner because John was craving some pork burrito.  We take the kids to Cafe Rio all the time because of their free kids quesadilla's.  Such a deal!
Then, since Ivy loves ice cream we went to our all time favorite ice cream place.  We love Menchies!  Have you tried it?  The flavors are delicious and their merchandise is adorable. Cute spoons, stickers, little paper cars, pencil toppers, just cute stuff.

Way to go John! He did awesome! I love races too; they're exhilarating. I would have come to watch but we are sick here. Happy Birthday Ivy! Can't believe she is one.
