John has been wanting to get a rocket for Jack for years. He's been patiently biding his time until Jack could get "into" it with him. I guess John had been talking to his brother about it because suddenly Kurt had bought rockets and invited us over to his house to launch them.
What is it about boys and rockets? John and his brother shot these rockets off over and over and over again, long after the kids had lost interest and were off doing other things.
Note to self: buy a trampoline for Lottie someday. This girl is such a natural gymnast, she could jump and flip around all day long.

Well, we all know that dads encourage sons into activities that the dads really want to do but need an excuse to do it. I don't think John needs an excuse to play, but when it's "for the kids" it's so much more noble. How fun.
My "boys"...Bruce and Hayden are also into the rocket craze. As you pointed out I think the bigger boys are the ones that are really into the rockets and having sons to play with makes it ok to indulge their hobby. I'm all for it, at least they aren't sitting in front of a computer all the time:)!!!
