Camping with small children

My husband is a camper.  He comes from a whole family of campers.  It's what they did for every family vacation, every summer.  They're good at it too, they have all the necessary stuff to make it comfortable and warm.  Me though, I'm still learning.  I'd kind of rather put my kids to bed at 7:00 in their beds, watch some tv and then sleep in my own bed.
But I do think camping is a good thing to love. Especially for boys.  I want my boys to know how to set up the tent and start a fire and make a cobbler in a dutch oven like my husband does.  I want them to love being outside all day and get good and dirty.
But when it came right down to it I wasn't really looking forward to sleeping all night in tight corners with my four tiny kids one of them being a nursing baby.  Not super excited about waking up grumpy and sore.  So when Jack spiked a fever that afternoon and continued to get worse throughout the night I happily took him and Ivy home for a shower and to sleep in our beds.

Although Ivy wasn't happy about leaving AT ALL.  She might be a camper after all.  She cried all the way home.
Jack and I got up Saturday morning and he was feeling a lot better so we drove back down to meet everyone as they woke up.  Then went to visit our Papa Johns' mules.  These mules miss Papa John a whole lot I think.  (He's on a mission in Africa right now)

We'll try camping again sometime.  When I'm more brave and don't require a good nights sleep.
