Christmas alone....awesome

I was so nervous about doing this all alone but it turned out to be the best.  We ate when we were hungry, we slept when we were tired and we didn't have anyone's schedules to have to worry about.  I loved it! On Christmas Eve we decorated tiny gingerbread houses.
Then we all went to the "Big, Fancy" as Jack called it to eat.  Here's the thing with the sweaters.  We bought these sweaters at Goodwill as a joke for our Christmas cards this year but Jack LOVES his.  When we were getting dressed up for lunch he ran and put on his special sweater.  I tried to talk him out of it but that wasn't happening.  Next thing I know John is wearing his too.  I said, "No way!"  But John insisted that Jack can't be the only one looking dorky.  I have to back up my boy he said.  So they both wore their tacky sweaters.
We made some quick cookies for Santa and then opened their one Christmas Eve present, which were pajamas of course.

Jack was so excited he couldn't stop bouncing off the walls.  It's so fun to finally have kids who get Christmas.  It was magical.
They woke up at 2, 3, 3:30, 5 and finally we let them start presents at 6.  We had a perfect Christmasy day.  We stayed in our pajamas all day, we ate a ton of good food and we played and played and played.

I kind of loved being having our quiet little Christmas at home this year although I did miss my mom who's always in the background cleaning up the dishes from breakfast and rounding up all the wrapping paper and keeping things organized.  The only stressful part of our weekend was at church on Sunday when I had to teach Relief Society and John had to teach Priesthood and I lost the coin toss of who deals with Charlie while they teach.  What a nightmare!  He was either crying, or whining, or I was holding him while juggling my lesson with my other hand.  Ugh, I don't even remember what I talked about.

This was our first year alone too and I loved it! This was also the first year we've had a kid get Christmas and I think it was my favorite Christmas since I was a kid! It's so fun to see them get so excited and it's so nice to be able to just relax at home with your family!

Seriously, those sweaters crack me up! John is awesome for wearing his too :)

sidenote because it kinda reminded me: Gordon and I were just laughing about the Paula Abdul t-shirt John gave Gordon.

Glad you guys had such a good Christmas! We've been out of a computer for weeks now and so I had to catch up. But congrats on the girl! That's so fun! I am due like 5 days after you. Crazy. You guys are looking good and are a cute family.
