Closer to 30 than ever

Photobucket

I had my 29th birthday Saturday. It was good. We went to Indianapolis on Friday night so I could run my first 5k Saturday morning. I finished 958th out of 4000. It was a nice little jog but I decided that next year I should do the 1/2 marathon instead. Only I'll probably be pregnant again. Oh well..

Afterwards we went back to the hotel and John took the kids swimming while I took a nice quiet shower and watched and 2 episodes of House Hunters on HGTV-heaven. Before we headed home we stopped to do some birthday shopping and when John saw what I was planning on buying (a oven mitt, some lotion and a headband) he said, "no no no, put all that back and get something nice." So I got a beautiful green dress that I will love until the day I die.

We also stopped at a Mexican food restaurant and I decided that from now on I want John to cook me all special occasion meals. I think I like eating out because it makes me feel special and spoiled but in reality it's loud, the kids are irritating, it's expensive and it's never ever as good as what John makes. I'm really going to try to remember that next time.

In the end I have to say I really love getting older. I'm getting better every year. 5 years ago I found myself saying things like "oh no, I can't do that" or "that's just the way I am". Now I feel like I can really do anything I want. I can keep reinventing myself and trying new things.

It feels good to feel good.

Congrats on the 5k! Half marathons are the PERFECT distance...they are tough, but don't beat your body like a marathon! MomWollenzien raved about John's cooking, too! Isn't it hard to pick out something fun for yourself the older you get - it seems the pracitical side kicks in!?

Aww, that's sweet (the bit about John). I'm so proud of you for running the 5k, you make mothering 3 kids look so easy. I can't wait for you to be 30, it's pretty awesome.
I think it's interesting that you your body is more rockin' being 29 with 3 kids than it was at 21. See, getting older is a good thing.

Congrats on the race! That is awesome....I have to say I'm one of those people who love to run. Your dress is soooo cute. I love it! Happy late b-day from us too by the way.

I agree though eating out isn't all it's cracked up to be. Glad you are happy and life is good :)
Oh and I love the part about reinventing yourself and trying new things all the time. It's a motto I try to live by. Variety is the spice of life right?!
