Spending Fast

Did I mention that yesterday was day 30 of my spending fast?

Well it was

I'd be lying if I said that it was easy or that I didn't have days when I kicked myself for making such a stupid goal. (like when I accidentally stopped by Target and saw that the bathroom stuff I've been dreaming of for the past 2 months is now on clearance and the rug I was planning on spending $29.99 on was now $13.00......aghhhhhhh that hurts.)

But here's the thing: I'm really glad I did this. I'm glad I made it through and me and my husband (especially my husband) are really glad that at the end of the month we had an extra 389.00 to put into our savings account. $389.00 is apparently what I spend on a normal month on bathroom rugs and new lipstick and cute hats for Lottie and a couple coloring books for Jack and whatever else I just can't pass up.

Not only that, but buying those things made me realize just how glutenous I've been lately. We are really really lucky that John still has a job, a lot of people don't. But that may not always be the case and I don't want to be wishing that I had saved a little more and bought a few less decorative mirrors or cute baby shoes. I'm not saying I'm never going to buy another decorative mirror---that would just be crazy---but I do want to be more aware of the choices I make.
Also, Lottie went #2 on the potty yesterday. Probably not going to happen again for a while but it was kind of cool.

So, are you going to celebrate with a good clearance sale? Or, are you going to at least stay on a "spending diet"?

I'm still on a "spending diet."

I'm so glad that you were able to persevere!!! Good Job! Don't you feel just awesome? I know when I did it helped me so much and I was able to take away some wonderful "life lessons" from this. Good Job Brielle! I think your fantastic.

That's so great Brielle! I've been trying to cut back big time, so I feel your pain. The question has been "Do I NEED this?" and more oft then not the answer is no. :( Oh well, bigger and more important stuff to think about, right?
