From July 4th to July 24th and everything in between

The 4th of July is the absolute best day of the year.  We started out early in our patriotic apparel to meet the Wollenziens for our annual breakfast and fun run.
We have so many little kids when we all get together that the noise can be deafening.  The chaos and the dirt and the sticky syrup and babies demanding to be held.  It is crazy, but also so amazing that we all get to do this together.  The fact that all these kids get to grow up in a big pack is so remarkable.  Things can change in an instant so I'm just enjoying this time while it lasts.
After some quiet naps and a load of wash for all their cute muddy outfits we headed over to Kiers for the annual Knowlton family party.
I love this picture.  Jack and Owen dunking each other, Charlie gearing up for something, Ivy hamming it up for the camera.  There is lots of noise and choas with my family too, but it's mostly coming from my kids.

Our favorite part of the 4th is our jumbo banana split.  This has been such a fun tradition that everyone looks forward too.
Just minutes later it looks like this.  All that swimming really works up an appetite!

It's always such a fun show.  It's gets better and better every year.
Then, there's the fun hangover to deal with for a couple days after.  "No, there are no plans for today"  "not every day is full of parties and candy"
Luckily, we had a trip to the dentist to liven things up.

Cavity free!  Hooray!!
Then Orem city came through for us and set up this cool colonial village for the kids to explore.  I seriously need one of these in my house:

We of course spent a lot of days at the reservoir.  We rarely make it 2 days in a row without going for a quick swim over there.

Then the week of the 24th began Spanish Fork Fiesta days.  I love this town so much.  We happened to be having dinner downtown at one of the vendors set up there and when a stock parade began.  They call it the Western Heritage Parade and Charlie just loved it to pieces.
We went down another night and happened to run into all our cousins.  Such Fun!!

Jack and Lottie got one ride each.  I couldn't believe Jack picked the Gravitron.  Also, I couldn't believe that he loved it and wanted to ride again. Yuck.
It was so fun in fact that I took the kids back the next day to ride a couple more rides.
I'm a sucker for that wide eyed amazement that a good carnival can bring.
Unfortunately, when it came time to ride the ferris wheel, I realized that none of my kids are tall enough to ride alone and they only let 3 people in each seat.  That was a real problem.  I don't know what I would have done without those cute tweens behind us that volunteered to take Charlie with them.  That kid is so cool.
We had a ton of fun too.
The 24th of July started out bright and early for the Provo Temple to Temple 5k.  There were apparently ten thousand people there that day.  It was crazy.
Here we are with all our strollers and pregnant ladies.
These two are only a couple months apart but they haven't really been the best of friends.  Something about being the oldest vs. the youngest in their families.  But I think they are starting to turn a corner.
The rest of the day went spent with the Wollenziens.  John's mom rented this enormous blow up water slide for the day and it was endless hours of fun.  The kids played on it for almost 10 hours straight.  That's not even an exaggeration.  They just kept going and going.  Every once and a while we'd force them to take a break and eat Popsicles while us grown ups made up relay races and obstacle courses on it.  What a fun day!

These monthly updates highlight the big events that happened
but it sure looks like our life is one party after another.
My goal this next month is to update more often,
thus being more realistic of how life actually looks.
