Trip to California Day 2: San Diego Day

I got up early and made silly pancakes for everyone on Tuesday morning.  Really, I deserve something for that because silly pancakes are not my most favorite thing but they are my kids favorite.  That's got to be like 10 points.
We loaded everyone up on the coaster that goes from Oceanside to San Diego.
It probably wasn't the cheapest way to get into San Diego but it was nice not to have to get back in the car yet.  Since it was like 10 in the morning the train was basically empty and the kids could just roam and climb and be loud and no one cared.  The trip home though at 5 was a different story but I'm not going to get into that.

The train dropped us off right at Old Town which was just where we wanted to be.  We walked in and through all the cool old shops and buildings and pretended we had to drive this covered wagon home instead of our comfy, air conditioned, loaded with fully charged devices minivan.  We're so lucky to live today.
Curious George:

We ate lunch at a really cute little mexican food place where kids eat free.  Ha!  That's not a good deal for the restaurant when a family like mine walks in.

We walked over to the Mormon Battalion Museum which is a must see in San Diego.  It was the one of the coolest museums I've ever seen.  They lead you room to room and tell the story and each room is like stepping back in time.  An old trading post where they outfit you in the military issued uniform, a wagon camp where everything starts shake because a herd of wild buffalo comes through.  It was so well done.  I love our church.
Then out in the courtyard you get to pine for gold and even keep a couple of the biggest ones you find.

And do other pioneer jobs.

After the museum we stopped at a candy shop to get something to snack on while we waited for the next train.

We got home around 5 and of course we had to hit the beach again.

Wren finally started warming up to the whole beach thing.
