March started off weird. Jack came home from school one Friday with this horrible looking purple ear. Honestly, this picture doesn't do it justice. It was so gross. Jack and all the boys walking home with him had a different story about what happened but the part that really bugged me is that the school didn't even call me. He said he went to the office and got an ice pack and a rag to clean up the blood from that little cut on the side and was sent back out to recess.
I don't want to be one of those helicopter moms but I did go into the office later and kindly asked them to call me if my kids ever come in with something like this again.
Poor guy...

John and I go through honey like nobody's business. Between his morning oatmeal and my evening peppermint tea we use a ton. Luckily John's dad had some hives so all our honey was home grown. We decided to take over some of that job this year which included an entire Saturday scraping off all the old hives and dead bees from his boxes.
It was a big, huge job that made a big, huge mess out of our basement but we did it and have our new bees coming on Sat.
It's seriously worth all the trouble for that delicious honey.

St. Patrick's day was fun. We did our traditional scavenger hunt first thing in the morning to find the lucky charms.
That's about as far as I go for St. Patrick's. I love those cute ideas from pinterest where you tip over things and mess stuff up with little green footprints everywhere but then I would have to clean all that up. No thanks..
Lottie though, being the thoughtful giver that she is, wrapped me up a present weeks before and had been so excited to give it to me on St. Patrick's she could hardly stand it. I don't know where she found the picture but it was such a fun suprise to open. I love that girl.
Luckily, my mom did a special Irish dinner that night saving me from having to make my husband corn beef and cabbage. He adores St. Patrick's day for that sole reason.
I hate corn beef and cabbage but my mom somehow made it taste pretty good.

Then our good friends who live behind us got a trampoline. Oh the pain for these poor kids. They propped themselves up on the fence all afternoon while they put it all together. We've been planning on doing some things with our yard for a while but just hadn't gotten to it yet. Well this definitely put a fire under us.
John happened to run across this incredible picnic table for us.
I've been needing some kind of table and chairs out there but this was better than anything I could have imagined.

Then we found later we found this cool galvanized steel swing set on KSL for a steal so we got that too.
It's not perfectly awesome like we hope to make it someday but for now we are loving our backyard.
We've been able to spend lots of afternoons and evenings like this which is pretty heavenly.
