John and I are big time wrappers. We've been wrapping up our babies ever since my brother showed me how do it when Jack was a baby. The tighter the better is our philosophy. We believe in wrapping them tight because it becomes a signal to them that now is time to sleep. We also believe in scheduled nap times and stick to our schedule as much as possible. But, if for some reason we're out and I want a baby to sleep all I have to do is wrap them up and they know it's time for sleep.
Back when my brother taught me about swaddling we just used a knit blanket and tried to get it as tight as we could but the babies always got out eventually. Over the years these wrapping blankets have been evolving. We've had the kind with velcro, with zippers, with pockets and pouches for feet, even one that had a hole in the bottom so that you could wrap them and then put them into the car seat. But this new Miracle Blanket is the best one yet. I recently got an Amazon Prime account so after reading tons of reviews about all the different swaddling blankets out there I ordered this one and it was here two days later.
I can't believe we'd never thought about two little loopies for the arms. You just wrap their arms in the loopies then tuck the blanket under their back.
Then you wrap one side over.
Then you wrap the other side.
So far, big results!! She's sleeping nice and warm and tight and she has yet to be able to figure out a way to get her arms out to wake her up. I know not everyone believes in swaddling but as a serious believer it's awesome to find something that works so well.

I love a little baby burrito! I have always been a big swaddler but I've never tried any of those doodads because they never seemed to be quite right. Glad to hear that they've finally developed something to brag about!
I'm a believer too! I might have to order one of these because Lydia is getting too big/strong to swaddle. Thanks for the info!
