a chore

I feel like I am constantly at the Doctors office lately.  Between all the well checks and the occasional UTI for Lottie and stitches for Charlie it's like a second home.  Only with nothing to do and antsy kids.  I used to schedule all their appointments together so I would only have to go every 6 months or so but I've learned over the years that 1 or 2 kids in a waiting room is tolerable but 3 or 4 is just a perfect storm.  Plus, it's a real pain for whoever happens to find themselves at the Dr.'s the same day as us.

Today was Ivy's turn: 5 shots for my poor little baby.
But I have learned a few things a long the way,
1-I always schedule the appointment for right after nap time and give them a snack in the car. Rested and fed.
2-I try to go alone with them, the more kids, the worse the one that's getting shots take it.
3-I usually give them some Advil before we leave.  It seems to help.
4- I always bring a treat to give them right after.  Marshmallows calmed Ivy right down.
5- Some kids don't need anything of this.  My older 2 kids never seemed to care at all about shots and never complained about it after but oh Ivy, she's affected for weeks.
Someday these well checks are going to be replaced by orthodontist and broken bones visits.  Will I look back and miss this?

That is so cute how she is just shoving the marshmallows in while she's sobbing. Poor little thing! I feel like I live at the Dr. office lately too. So ridiculous.
