Looking ahead
I just want to complain about one thing and then I'll let it go: people love to tell me to savor this time in life because it's only going to get harder the older my children get but I'm definitely looking forward to my children growing up a little. I'm tired of sitting in the car watching everyone else play in the snow because the baby didn't like the cold. I'm looking forward to being able to play with my kids when we go places instead of always hiding in a quiet corner nursing, or getting a baby to sleep, or just being too pregnant to move. That's all I'm saying.

That's funny, my mom was (is) always telling me "it get's EASIER!" I think it is so much fun having bigger kids that I think are fun to do too! In all of my experience (only 7 yrs), it is just a different kind of hard... but I think baby hard is the hardest on me too. Big kids = fun!
p.s. your blog is my one of my favorites.
...agree...agree...agree!
no way! you'll see! when you have to worry about bras and boys you'll want to go back to babies and books and diapers.
I only say that cuz while you're wishing your baby bigger the big ones get bigger too. (and its gone)then you try and keep up with the big ones and you miss the little ones. just enjoy
I think that is what has been so incredibly difficult with Aidan, our #6...my 11, 9, 8, and 5 yr old kids are in school, in activities, enjoying life. I just feel so established in my routine and the baby jay kinda throws a wrench in it. Even my 2 year old kinda just tows a long but having the new baby changes everything. I, too, can't wait till Aidan is a bit older. It takes longer to get out the door, longer to eat a meal, I couldn't go sledding either cause you can't bring a baby out in that cold so I watched from the car while the older kids helped the younger ones. BUT, some days the simplicity and monotony of having babies is so much better then worrying about pre teen girl drama, 4th grade boy woes....etc. Plus the older Aidan gets the further into teenage-hood my other kids get...blah....it's a no-win. ;)
You didn't even mention not changing diapers any more. That's the whole reason i'm not having kids until we cab afford a nanny.
P.S. you are a great photographer.
