Where John blows us away

Photobucket
We got to the stadium almost a full hour earlier than John anticipated finishing his race. I was shocked when I happened to glance up at the jumbo-tron and saw him sprinting in to finish in his best time ever, 1:34. Especially since everyone finishing around the same time were these tall and lanky 20 year olds that looked like all they do in life is run. I was so proud of my husband I almost burst into tears. I'm not even kidding

A part of me dreads these little weekend vacations we do sometimes because it's just an enormous amount of work. Feeding time alone is an ordeal, plus sleeping everyone in one little hotel room, plus dealing with chronically over tired kids. It's just hard. This weekend there was some of that but all in all I had a fun time.

After Johns race we went back to the hotel so he could shower and eat and then we went to the little fitness fair they were having. Jack loved being a fireman and took it all very seriously. He even got to shoot the fire hose.

After all the race stuff we headed over to the Fort Wayne Childrens Zoo since it's supposedly one of the best in the country. It was really fun. Next time though I'll make sure we feed the children when they first start mentioning hunger so we can avoid the royal meltdown we had in front of the concession stand.
Jack screaming "I'm out of energy! I can't go on anymore!"

Also here's Charlie. He'll go anywhere, at any time and be happy about it. He sleeps when he's tired, he'll eat when food is available. A banana in one hand, a sucker in the other. He's just a pleasure. If only all my kids could be so agreeable.

I love it all, cute post. I especially like the one with lottie hugging jack.

Was John's race a half-marathon? Good job to him! Good time! Looks like you guys had a good time. I love Jack in the firefighter jacket.

Yeah, it was a half. It was especially impressive since he never has time to jog for an hour and a half--so he's only jogged 13 miles few times in the last 6 months or so. I couldn't believe he kept up his 7 minute mile pace.
