I love Johns birthday because it's always on or around labor day which means we have a long weekend to cram as much fun as we can into. I sometimes don't like it though because of the same reason. On Saturday we wanted to go bowling but our little Indiana town is notorious for disappointing us when we are looking for fun. The bowling alley was closed for some strange reason. So we searched the GPS and found another one--we called--the guy said it was open so we went. The GPS took us about 35 minutes out of town into the middle of a corn field. So, we decided to go get ice cream instead. Luckily on our way to our favorite smoothie place we saw the other bowling alley so we stopped and we bowled.
My kids thought Cosmic bowling was pretty cool for a minute but since we had used up an hour of our "happy-kid time" driving around they were done by like the 4th frame. Oh well, John bowled the game of his life. Strikes and Spares every single time. I didn't break 60--like always.
On Sunday I took a two hour nap while John made dinner and dessert. Oops!! Then he opened his presents from the kids. Silly String. Whoopie Cushions, Fake Teeth, Googley Eye Glasses, and Candy. It may have been more for them than for John.

Monday we spent the day at the lake having a B.B.Q. We had a lot of fun playing volleyball and eating Brats and walking along the beach and getting good and muddy. Too bad the lakes here in our little town are all toxic and you can't let them come in contact with your skin. Oh Indiana.....

Anyway, I'm glad John was born. The world wouldn't be the same without him. But, I'm glad he goes back to work tomorrow so I can get some rest.
