Here's the thing - when my kids aren't busy, they fight. They scream, they hit, they make huge messes for me to clean up. It can get pretty frustrating so I've been trying to find things to keep them busy. Last week I got a book from the library with hundreds of ideas for kids. For the next week I'm going to post something new everyday from this book for some of my friends who might be going through the same thing.
Here's #1: Red Light, Green Light
Ok, this is kind of a no brainer but I had forgotten about it. You can do it the old fashion way where you line them up and make them walk to you on green and stop on red but we turned on some music and danced a rainy afternoon away. Green-dance fast, red-stop and yellow-dance slow. It seriously kept them happy for like an hour and a half. Our favorite music to dance to strangely enough is Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

Your such a good mom. Most of the time I resort to movies or TV. I am so happy that you are putting these up. They will a life saver for the summer brake!
Would love to have you post the title of the book you found!
The music you posted is an old family favorite...I think we used to listen to it on record. =) It's fun to hear it again. Can't wait to play it for my kids!
Katie: Of course we do plenty of tv and movies too!
Miriam: The book is called
"The Everything Toddler Book". We actually listen to our music on a record player too. It just sounds better I think.
I see that you have a yellow light. Does that mean go really really fast?
