Sunday

Photobucket
Jack became a Sunbeam today. I'm grateful that my little boy takes these things so seriously. (unlike when I'm trying to take his picture) I'm in Primary too so I got to see him sitting as reverently as he could in his little front row seat singing all the songs and answering questions. What a big boy!

Also, Today was Charlie's blessing. Despite my very best efforts we still got to church late and almost didn't get to do it today, but in the end it all worked out.

Out of curiosity--how do you get to church on time?
I've tried everything-
I lay out our clothes the night before
I pack our church bags
I set out breakfast
My problem is church starts at 9 and John is in meetings all morning
I used to do ok by myself
but now with a nursing baby I can't seem to get the timing down.

I am such a time Nazi on Sunday mornings. I'm not by myself, but I get everything ready so I may as well be. I wake up at 7am and get myself ready, then I get Emma up and set her up at the table for breakfast. I do her hair while she's eating, then we get her dressed. With Max now in the picture, I throw his clothes on just as we are ready to walk out the door (by 8:30) and then my plan is, which worked today, to nurse before church starts. This way, we are still there on time, we have our seat, Em and Todd can be in the chapel and even if I walk into the meeting during the opening song, we were still on time, everyone is dressed, fed and sitting on the pew!

I hear tales from the Kokomo ward of a sister whose hubby was away often. She would get her kids dressed in their Sunday clothes before she put them to bed on Saturday night. I haven't got the gumption to do that, but hey whatever works right? I gave up on being on time mostly because my hubby has an obsession with turning off the alarm clock. But we are blessed to be in a building with another ward and now we don't have to be to church until 11:30AM and now we can be on time for a whole year!!
If you figure it out please share! Then I will know what to do for next year!

Nursing babies throw pretty much all my timing off! I finally decided to not really stress about it until Maizy is 6 months old...by then we should be good to go! Good luck! But in the meantime, if you find the secret, pass it along, thanks.

I give up a few things I'd like to have for what actually works for me. Since we start at 8:30 this year, my plan is to take a banana and some bread (something portable) to church with us for Craig to eat there for breakfast. I can get it ready the night before and he needs lots of things to keep him occupied during church. I'd prefer he not eat during sacrament, but food keeps him quiet and happy longer than anything else and it's better he eat than one of us miss Sacrament by walking around the halls with him. Also, I'd like to not have to nurse during sacrament, but I just feed Ethan when we get there instead of trying to fit in before. I teach Primary, so he needs to eat during Sacrament anyway to be full enough to last the rest of church. You probably already do this part, but I plan for all of us (myself included) to have baths and showers the night before. With this plan, all I have to do Sunday morning is get the kids dressed and myself ready between wake up (usually 7:00) and leaving, which will be about 8:00, ideally. I think I can get it all done in one hour, but we'll see. (We missed yesterday because Robert was working and I had to stay home with the boys since they were sick.)

I always take a shower the night before and have the girls clothes ready to go. As far as the baby goes why don't you just feed him during sacrament meeting (in the mom's lounge)?

Last year we had the 9:00 am time. I showered the night before and we fed Sean during sacrament meeting. Sometimes we would even take separate cars so at least half of us could be on time. We are so relieved to have the 11:00 am time now, but now we have the problem of Sean needing a nap after sacrament meeting. I vote for church to be 2 hours long and start at 10:00 am.

We have church at nine....the only way we get there by ten to the hour is if I wake up at 6...no later. That gives me time to shower, do my hair (if I wash my hair and have to straighten it I get up at 5:45), feed the kids, diaper bag ready, primary stuff checked again, girls hair, girls dressed and eat breakfast. I know that when I was nursing with a newborn it was a little crazy for a while trying to figure out when to nurse...but after a while I figured out something that worked.

p.s. washing my hair the night before doesn't work because it dries funky...so I have to get up at crazy hours :)

yeah we are usually alaways 5 min. late to church :) Tate loves primary too. It made me so proud that he is turning into such a big guy. He definitely does better in there than in nursery! You look beautiful brielle and charlie is adorable!
P.s. tate was a little sad when he couldn't ride his bike on Christmas like jack. A couple days later he really picked it up though and now He wants to ride his "super rocket bike" (as he calls it) with his cousin Jack.

I just have to say that you look absolutely gorgeous. I've never ever ever looked that good with newborn in tow. Ever.

Secondly, getting 3 kids ready for church and out the door BY YOURSELF is rough. What I've done is just learned to be okay with eating sacrament in the foyer and sitting in the back after the sacrament. I'm pretty much okay with that. ;-)
