Forethought

Today we picked pears

We each ate enough to make us sick

We may not have stopped to consider what we're going to do with 50 lbs. of pears.

any suggestions?

My vote is for Pearsauce, it's like applesauce but SOOOOO much yummier!

Yes, I hear pearsauce is really good. Also you could just cut them up and can them with a lite syrup.

Sooo jealous! My trees at our last house just started bearing as we sold it. :-( They are really yummy dried if you have a dehydrator or can borrow one from someone. Seriously, if the pears are ripe when you dry them they taste like candy! I'd dry some, can some, and make some pearsauce. :-)

I love pears. How do you find the time and energy to go picking pears with a toddler, baby, and pregnancy??? I want whatever you are taking.

I love how Lottie has her eyes fixed on that pear in the first photo.

I agree with Robyn - pear sauce is amazing. I have no idea how to make it though. You're on your own for that!

So pearsauce it is. That seems to be everyone's favorite. I think I will dehydrate some of it. I have a dehydrator that I've never used actually.

Oh and Jen, I take a prenatal vitamin, a iron supplement, and an aciphex(prescription heartburn medication) every morning and a tagament at night. I am soooooo looking forward to being done with taking pills every day!

Usually I don't comment on blogs but I am so jealous of the pears. I didn't get any this year. Pear Butter is good but bottled, dried, and the greatest of all FRESH PEAR PIE. They have to be ripe but still real firm to make a good pear pie.
