John grew this horrible thing on his upper lip and as soon as his brothers all saw it and had a good laugh I made him shave it off. Yuck.
We flew to Utah and I discovered that I don't really like flying. I've never worried about crashing before but I kept having these horrible images flash through my mind. That and I watched Confessions of a Shopaholic on the plane instead of reading my book and I wished I had read instead. We were able to attend Grandma Killpacks funeral.
I tasted these cupcakes everyone's been talking about and decided they are a little to rich for me. Plus you have to be rich to afford them.
John and I had no one's schedule or needs to think about but our own for 4 whole days! This is us going for a bike ride at 7:30 at night. (that's usually my busiest time of day)
But probably the best part of the whole trip was that I learned that my children can survive without me. Honestly, I hardly ever leave them even for a couple hours and I am pretty controlling when it comes to taking care of them so it was hard for me to let go. But whenever I called Jack could barely find the time to talk to me and my mom said they were wonderful.
When we came in the door I picked up Lottie and and she started whining and put her arms out for my mom to take her back. I could have been hurt but I honestly never thought I would see my extremely clingy and needy little girl so attached to someone else. It made me so happy that she had really bonded with my mom. Of course now it's been a day and a half and she's back to normal with me but I'm glad she's more well adjusted than I thought.
Plus my mom redid things all over my house which is typical. She turned my backyard into a place where you would actually want to hang out.
She reorganized all the toys into these adorable little boxes.
She filled the freezer with chocolate milk Popsicles, and she washed all the towels and sheets. I'm sure that I'll discover more that she's done as I go along but I honestly have no clue how she was able to do all this while taking care of my kids. She's amazing. Now that I know it's possible I can't wait for our next little getaway. I think next time I'd like to go to the beach or a cool city somewhere. Maybe in about 18 months we'll do it again.
