Day 21

Today is Saturday which everyone knows is the best, most fun day to drop money all over town. Today was especially tempting because John was at the County Chili Cook-off for work all day long. (he didn't win because he said it was a "popularity contest and the guys dressed as nuns had a lot of friends") So I did what I do when I really really really want to go buy things---I rearranged the furniture in the living room.

Oh, and here are the kid's rooms--
(Lottie finally gets to sleep in the crib, I've been feeling horrible about her sleeping arrangements for the last 10 months)

(Jack gets a mattress on the floor until we get around to buying him a bed, now I can feel guilty about his arrangements for awhile.)

Don't feel bad for Jack. I bet he loves it. That's how Mercer slept for most of our time in San Diego. For two of those months he was even in the CLOSET on a mattress on the floor!

It's just not as far for them to fall when the mattress is on the floor. You do realize what can be lived without in times like these. Kids don't really need as much as we think they do. But, I know how you feel.

Nice pictures, I've been waiting to see more of the house. I wish I could have seen a before picture for the living room. You've done a good job so far.

My kids have regular beds but they are always BEGGING to sleep anywhere else--the cubby, the floor of the living room, in each others beds, on the trampoline, etc. I actually think a mattress on the floor is probably the best all around place for a toddler. They can't fall down as Stephanie mentioned and they can easily get in or out on their own. No need at all to feel guilty about that.

Cute rooms! I love them. I am excited for the day we get a house so I can decorate it cute too!

Wow---I'm so relieved that everyone seems to agree that putting a kid on the floor is actually a good idea. I thought we were being horrible parents...It's always nice to hear that we're all doing the same things.

I also once lost a contest to a group of people dressed as nuns. It was at a Sound of Music Sing-a-long. Our costumes of "brown paper packages tied up with string" lost to a group of nuns because they had more friends in the audience. I mean seriously, how hard is it to rent a nun costume? I feel John's pain.
