Lots of pictures--exhausting weekend

We haven't been at all impressed by what our little town has to offer in the way of family activities but this little light display was actually pretty cool. We never would have made it through the bitter cold though if I hadn't brought along some hot chocolate. I even put some in the bottle for Lottie.

Saturday was stressful and intense. I had a million things to do (post office, sams club, walmart, fabric store, etc.) John worked all day so I was without a car except for the 2 hours between his work and his work meeting. Finally he came home and we were only a half hour late to the ward party. We were to dress up in biblical attire and Jack desperately wanted to wear his frog costume from Halloween but I was able to talk him into this pillowcase.

I would have taken pictures of John and I except that we somehow ended up looking really scary. We were told that John looked like a homeless terrorist and I looked like a Bethlehem "street walker". (yeah, someone seriously told us that!) I got to wrestle these two all by my self throughout the entire party since John was in the program.
a little side note about my husband: I'm starting to think that there will be times in our married life when people we associate with will think I'm really cool and interesting and talented and think John is a lucky man. Now is not that time. It's the reverse and although I love that people in our little circle think my husband is wonderful (I do too) I think it's starting to give me a complex.

I think the kids' costumes are cute. Did a lot of your ward members dress up too? For dress up events in our ward we get about a 70% costume participation - the best we've ever experienced!

oh - and for what it's worth, I think you are smart, wonderful, funny, talent-laden, stylish, a great mom, and a great cook. John is a lucky man, and I'm a lucky sis-in-law!

The Christmas lights looked fun and I love your new coat brielle! Jack and lottie looked really cute in their biblical costumes, but I'm having a hard time picturing you as a Bethlehem "street walker"; that's really funny though. I think both John and You are talented and wonderful people too, but I bet you're pretty tired. Being on your own with one kid is hard enough but with two well I guess I'll find out soon enough. I always hate it when Sam is just super busy or gone for the weekend and I'm wrestling to keep Tate happy. I bet you're excited for the break :)

Okay, now I have to see pictures of you and John. Also, anyone who knows you and reads your blog knows that you are seriously talented. I can't believe that you are able to do all of the cute crafts, food, and activities that you do with an infant and toddler!

I know the feeling of having "a complex." I always thought I was a pretty good cook, especially coming from a mom who kind of wasn't, until I married a chef. My skills have improved, but most people are surprised when I tell them I made something, and I find myself feeling surprisingly offended. Oh well, the pros of having a chef in the fam far outweigh the cons. :)

I would've never thought a pillowcase could be a nativity costume, but it is perfect! Great job! Those Christmas lights look like fun...we keep on doing fun things, but I am terrible with taking pics and worse with putting them on the blog...maybe that'll be my New Years Resolution!
